To blog or not to blog...that is the question

Well, I may or may not start blogging again. What I do know at this point is:

1. I needed a new design. One that is simple and sleek.

2. I didn't need 2 blogs anymore, so I imported the other one and deleted it.

3. If I do start blogging "regularly again," it will not be daily. I'm just too busy for that.

I have been blogging for about seven or eight years now, and am probably on my sixth blog or something by now. When it was more of a hobby and fun, I was not working as someone who wrote professionally. Being a writer takes the fun out of blogging. And reading. Because its hard to get out of work mode and into casual mode. But we will attempt and see how much I can do and when.

I really wanted to start blogging again because I have a hilarious new project that I"m working on for Halloween. And last night, whilst spray painting black pumpkins in my front yard, I had a little assistance from my two engineering neighbors who circled my project and offered advice on how to really make it work. Pictures will come soon enough, but probably not until next week!

Anyway, this is just a quick note to say I'm going to give a go at blogging again. But you will see new things on SMSA's. It will not be solely on food and cooking anymore. Probably because I haven't been cooking as much lately. I know...but life has been busy and out of sorts for the last several months. Just deal! ; )

So...this blog will be about food, cooking, crafts, life, family, God, etc. Same name. New design. Some new topics.

Maybe people will read it. Maybe not. But it will be there...most likely.

Designer woes....

I need new headers for both of my blogs. If I weren't frugal and trying to save up for a massive vacation this summer, I might pay someone to design them for me. But, alas, money does not grow on trees...or at least any of the trees in my yard.

You would think, as a marketing and public relations professional who oversees design work every day, that I would do my own. But, my confidence in my design skills has completely dwindled since I began work with one of the most talented graphic designers in the area. (Yes, she really is THAT good. Of course, her education and training is in graphic design, and mine is in PR. Which means I have about 1/8 of the design background she does.)

I know, I know...still...I should utilize the minimal skillz I have and design my own blog logos/headers. Its just so much pressure, and I'm such a perfections when it comes to things like this. I just need to bite the bullet and do it though. Maybe I will this weekend....between the yard work and sitting around watching TV. (I live the most exciting life EVER!) We will see...

I think my biggest problem is finding the perfect font and picking the colors that I want. I'm thinking the other blog needs to change from the bright pink to something more subtle. And then after the fonts, its a matter of me figuring out what to include image wise. I can't just slap some stuff together, after all. Remember...I'm a professional!

Okay, enough whining about my headers and blog design. By the way, can you tell I widened the text portion and overall look of this one? Putting my minimal HTML/Web design skillz to work. I have a broad range of minimal abilities!

Welcome to the Wide World of Blogs!

Cold weather out of the ordinary is far worse than months and months of cold weather, I think. When you go outside and expect temperatures in the upper 60's and lower 70's, but find it to be in the mid to lower-40's, it really catches you off guard. That's something you expect in January or February in the South, but not in April.

The weather is not what this new blog is going to be about. The new blog will be about my new adventures in a somewhat-new town with a new job and a new house and a new church...maybe I should have put new in the title. This blog is about starting over....but in a place that is cram full of memories and pictures of another time and another me.

A little over three months ago I picked up my life and headed back east to my college town. I landed the job of a lifetime doing PR & marketing for the university and alma mater that has always and forever held my devotion. It was a good move for me, and the Lord has blessed me beyond comprehension since I told that bold step outward. I know the road is long and unknown ahead, but I am very excited about where I am and where I might be going.

I do have to give a shout out for the title of this blog. I totally ripped it from the title of a song by Sarah Johns. Check her out on MySpace or iTunes. I love that song!!!

Welcome to my new blog! Since my life is far less complicated than it was in the big city, I have more time and long to get back to writing again. (As you can see, above, Josephine is totally supportive of this new venture!) Here you will read my random and insignificant musings about life in a small town. Hope you enjoy!!!
